Salem Maritime Festival

CVD will be performing dances of the Regency Era, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, at the Salem Maritime festival. The event has music, exhibits, demonstrations, and children's activities that will be available throughout the Salem Maritime National Historic Site and on Derby Wharf. The 2014 Salem Maritime Festival is hosted by Salem Maritime, your national park in Salem, in cooperation with the Essex National Heritage Commission.

Live Music, Free 90-minute Harbor Cruises, Friendship of Salem Ship Tours, Numerous Kids Activities including the Junior Ranger Program, Boat Tours & Demonstrations, Opportunities to ruise, Sail, Paddle, Row Salem Harbor, Traditional Craft Demonstrations The event will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The weekend’s events are sponsored by the Nahant Historical Society and help preserve Nahant’s heritage as a summer haven. You are Cordially Invited to attend Fezziwig’s Ball, an unforgettable Evening of Dance and Merriment from the era of Dickens. Much of the program will consist of set dances which will be taught during the evening. These will include such Victorian favorites as Pop Goes the Weasel and other easy contradances and simple quadrilles, as well as Sir Roger de Coverly, an English version of the Virginia Reel. Interspersed with these will be elegant couple dances such as the waltz and polka.
