2002 Saturday: Formal Tea, a Bathe, and Costume Ball

Photos taken on 17 August 2002

Saturday, the last full day of the dance week, begins with classes and a lecture by our Viennese instructor, Hannelore Unfried, on the Mazurka. Lunch follows among the trees near the Gazebo, with Lobsters and Steamers (and other foods). Later that afternoon is the Formal Tea where everyone gets a chance to dress up in their finest ensembles to enjoy the afternoon.

The heat encouraged some individuals to take advantage of Portsmouth Abbey's own beach as several intrepid campers make a foray down to the campus beach for a bathe.

The end of the week, which comes much too soon, is celebrated with our Fancy Dress Ball; this year's theme was Fairy Tales. Once again Smoke & Mirrors outdid themselves with fabulous decorations.

Friday: The Astors Beechwood Mansion
