Happy New Year!! I was wondering who would be the proper person to speak with about auctioning off Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox autographed items at your events through KBK Sports? Thanks! - Jon

Hi Jon, Your message has nothing to do with our mission to reconstruct, teach and perform historical American social dances.

Fezziwig's Ball is happening! We are keeping an eye on the weather. If the governor were to call a snow emergency, and tell people to stay off the roads, we would cancel the event -- but that is unlikely to happen. We expect the snow to fall over a long period, so the road crews will be able to keep up with it. Salem is very good with street plowing and keeping parking spaces clear. ... See MoreSee Less

Some people are traveling quite a distance to get there.... It's not just the streets of Salem that we are concerned about!

I think I am going to need to stay in as I am driving one hour and 15 minutes away from there. Maybe I can come to another ball in exchange 🙂

As much as I hate to miss this I just turned around to head home. 90 between Sturbridge and Worcester is pretty wicked.

Too dangerous for us to make the trip, its too bad, we were really looking forward to it 🙁

This storm has definitely become significant.

Great evening! CVD does such a great job! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication! Happy Holidays 🎄♥️

Fezziwig's has sold out! There's a chill in the air, frost is predicted, and Fezziwig's has sold out!
As a reminder, there will not be a waiting list or standby tickets--but we have more events in February and March, so if you missed out on this one don't despair! We hope to see you back in Salem at the Jane Austen Ball.

Men, if your formal white breeches and silk stockings are at the cleaners, you can wear a dark suit for this ball.

Ladies, you don't have to look like Queen Victoria on your first outing. If you want to check out the dancing and have a lovely evening without committing to the costume, wear a simple long or long-ish dress.

It's hard to believe tonight is the last Royal Court class! We're looking forward to watching our court perform the Caledonian Quadrilles (instruction card from the 19th century shown here) next week at the ball! Will you be there to see them? Queen Victoria enjoyed dancing, which was lucky--many balls were held in her honor on state visits! We love these paintings that capture some of those events. Have you gotten your ticket to The Victoria and Albert Ball yet? Don't miss the fun! ... See MoreSee Less

In honor of our first week of Royal Court Classes, here's Her Majesty's account of her first state ball:
"The rooms I must say looked beautiful, were so well lit up...I danced (a Quadrille of course) first (in the large ballroom) with George; and 2ndly with Prince Nicholas Esterhazy. There was a waltz between each quadrille. We then went into the other ballroom where I dance two quadrilles...I did not leave the ballroom till 10 minutes to four!! It was a lovely ball, so gay, so nice,--and I felt so happy and so merry; I had not danced for so long and was so glad to do so again!" -Journals,1838

We hope you'll join the merry-making at The Victoria and Albert Ball!
